Who Is Onida?

Never one to settle for one thing, Onida pursues her passion for Event Management with zeal and thirst for learning innovative ideas. In 2005 after planning and getting decor concepts for many events she decided to officially go into business. With her business plan in hand and her vast imagination, Opulent Creations Events, LLC was born. Onida's vision was to form an innovative special events business specializing in event decor.

As an event planner and designer, Onida has the unique ability to understand different personalities and preferences- this is largely attributed to her training as an educator and engineer. She prides herself in gaining personal and friendly relationships with her clients. OCE, LLC has effectively created many exquisite and memorable events in Maryland, New Jersey, and New York.

Creativity, talent, and experience has allowed Onida to achieve a high quality service with extra attention to detail at a price that is reasonable for her clients. Onida's motto is that you are only as good as your last event, therefore treat each event as if it were the only one.

My Sister & Partner: Olesha "O2" Haskett

My sister, Olesha, has always loved photography. She graduated in May 2007 with a BFA in Photography / Computer Imagery and recently graduated with her MBA with a concentration in Marketing. She is the creative director and owner of a wedding photography business, O2 Weddings, based in Baltimore, Maryland. She is an active member of PPA. She is a regular contributor to my blog.

Ellen and Portia Real Wedding

Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres exchanged wedding vows at their LA home in front of close friends and family. Celebrity wedding planner, Mindy Weiss, was on hand to orchestrate the day. The rings were Neil Lang, the flowers by Mark Held of Mark's Garden, the brides wore Zac Posen, Sweet Lady Jane created a vegan red velvet cake for the event, and their personal chef David Silberkleit prepared the all vegan meal.

Looking at the pictures, courtesy of Lara Porzak, it seems that an intimate ceremony on the back lawn followed by a succulent meal under a partially enclosed canopy is how the wedding occurred. The evening was lit by candle lit and guests enjoyed a cozy, "at home" feel for the reception. I love the idea of a small guest count. Less than 70 guests is an ideal number to create an comfortable and cozy ambience.
